The BALL is the most important piece of equipment you have and it should be maintained and kept as close as possible to the condition it was when you first purchased it.
"Tip Of The Month" is graciously provided to you by Bob Schellhammer of Schellhammers Pro Shop located in Bowl-O-Rama at 4100 Perkiomen Ave Reading, Pa 19606. Pro Shop Tip of the Month

The first in a series of monthly tips to help improve your scores by educating you on the new technologies and care of the equipment. Remember that the Pro Shop is your source of information. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

With the ever changing technologies and advances in the manufacturing of Bowling Balls and since this is the most important piece of equipment and since almost every league bowler has his or her ball, it would be best to start here with the Tip of the Month.

If you're in the market for new equipment, the first and most important step is selecting a ball that is right for you, then having it fitted and drilled by an experienced Pro Shop Operator.
For this tip we're assuming you've already done that.

First a little background on the ball. The cover stocks of today's balls are as follows :
1. Polyester (Plastic)
2. Urethane
3. Reactive Urethane
4. ProActive Urethane

Which ever type of ball you have now, the Tip of the Month will apply.

The BALL is the most important piece of equipment you have and it should be maintained and kept as close as possible to the condition it was when you first purchased it. This means cleaning, with ABC approved cleaner, as often as possible with a minimum of once after every time you bowl. The ball should be resurfaced at the earliest signs of wear. This would be the sign of track marks around the ball where it rolls all the time.

Bowling is a game of consistency so you need to keep your equipment in the best condition possible. More consistency improves your chances for better scores and better scores make the game a lot more fun.

Good Luck and Good Bowling!
